    Cute Glue Stick Valentine Cards

My two kids cannot wait for the classroom Valentine's Day card exchange! We got ready early, and this is the glue stick valentines that my third grader will be handing out to his class.

We started seeing classroom valentine cards at the stores a while ago. But I have a hard time buying plastic toys and valentines that I know will end up in the trash.

Last year, my kid made these super cute post-it-note valentines to give out. This year, we stuck with the same theme of school supples. Again, we are making our own practical (but sweet) valentine gifts to hand out in his classroom.

Here's the fun valentines gift idea we came up with. We're excited to share it with you. You can scroll down to get the free printable.

A Non-Candy Valentines Gift for Kids

This is the valentine that my third grader will be handing out in his classroom.

After we decided to make our own classroom valentine cards, we started thinking about what we could give away that is candy-free, fun, useful, and wouldn't end up in the trash in a few days. My son picked glue sticks. So, here they are.

Great choice! Giving away glue sticks for a class valentines exchange checked all our boxes:

    • Creative
    • Fun for an elementary student
    • Useful
    • Kids would be happy to get
    • A Non-Candy treat, so it's allergy friendly
    • Won’t immediately be put in the trash

I designed these valentine cards so the glue sticks can be stuck on to them. The design is modern and clean. Moreover, he appreciated that it wasn’t lovey dovey, but celebrated friendships.

This Printable Glue Stick Valentine for Kids is Good For Classroom Exchanges

Elementary students are a really fun bunch. They still (mostly) like to do arts and crafts, and enjoy having their own stationary.

My kids constantly go through glue sticks, so I know these are going to be used up. This printable valentine card will fit most standard glue stick sizes.

Plus, this is a healthy non-candy valentine gift. It's also suitable if for allergies, so all the kids in the class can enjoy this treat.

Which Glue Sticks to Use for this Classroom Valentines Gift

This printable valentines card can be used with most standard sized glue sticks. In the photos, you can see the common Elmers Glue Sticks. It fits perfectly right across.

We bought this set of Elmers Glue Sticks from Amazon. It's a set of 12, which has 6 glitter glue sticks and 6 regular disappearing purple. I bought multiple packs, because we go through so many glue sticks in our home. I plan to either keep the extras, or bring them into my kids' classrooms if the teachers needed them.

To make this valentine card extra special, you can also buy a set of 24 glitter glue sticks. It wasn't in stock when I ordered, but I see they are available now.

Here are a couple other fun glue stick recommendations, beyond the typical disappearing purple kind:

    • Dessert Scented glue sticks in a pack of 24
    • Set of 30 glue sticks with Valentine's Theme labels
    • Tropical Scented glue sticks in a pack of 30

How to Assemble these Printable Glue Stick Valentine Cards For Kids

There are a couple options how to put this Glue Stick Valentines together.

First, my crafty four-year-old cut out the valentine cards with my handy paper cutter. I like the sliding blade because the kids can't easily cut themselves with it. You can also use regular scissors, or for more fun, squiggly craft scissors.

Next, my kid used a hot glue gun to stick the glue sticks onto the printable valentine cards. My four-year-old LOVES her hot glue gun. So she volunteered to make these valentines for her brother's classroom exchange.

This hot glue gun is amazing. She can do it all by herself.

You can see her gluing the glue sticks onto the valentine cards in the photos below.

If you don't have a hot glue gun, you can also simply stick a piece of tape across the glue stick to hold it in place.
