Valentines Day Scavenger Hunt For Kids Clues

    Valentines Scavenger Hunt for Kids

Our kids absolutely love a scavenger hunt around the house! We try to do it on every holiday. It's so easy for me to set up. But more importantly, the kids go crazy for scavenger hunts.

We tape the first clue on their bedroom doors. That way, the kids can start the scavenger hunt as soon as they wake up. They are usually up at just about the same time, so it works well for them to help each other.

While the kids are off and running around doing the scavenger hunts, it gives me some extra time to start a special breakfast.

Here are my favorite heart waffles for Valentine's Day breakfast.

Fun Riddles for a Valentine's Day Scavenger Hunt

I came up with these riddle clue cards for my kids to do. The wording is straightforward and simple. As such, it should be easy for an elementary kid to read.

The clues aren't too hard to find. They will send the kids all around the house, including inside various rooms and nooks.

I created these clues so they can be all used. Or, depending on your home set up, some clues can be left out. You can also use these clue riddles in any order.

Simply print and cut the clue cards. Then arrange the scavenger hunt clues in a way that works for your house set up.

Valentines Scavenger Hunt Clue Hiding Tips

Since we've done lots of scavenger hunts with our kids, I have some tips on best places to hide the clues. It's really easy to tailor the scavenger hunt depending on the age of your kid(s), and how tricky you want to make the activity.

Hide Clues All Over the House

My kids love it when the clues take them all over the house. They especially love it when the clues go in a nonlinear pattern. For example, they find it funny when one clue starts downstairs, then they have to go upstairs, then back downstairs, and finally upstairs again.

    Bathroom

There is one clue in the deck that takes the kid into the shower. For an easy to find clue, simply tape it to the front of the shampoo bottle. To make this hiding spot more tricky, fold up the clue and tape it to the back of a shampoo bottle.

    Gloves

One of the clue cards takes the kid to a pair of gloves. We use gloves every day during the winter here. If the weather isn't cold enough where you are, you can leave this clue out.

I like this spot because it's easy to roll up the clue and stuff it all the way inside the glove.

    Shoes

One of my favorite spots to end scavenger hunts is by the shoes. The way we have our home set up, the kids won't accidentally see in the shoe closet when are doing the rest of the scavenger hunt. As such, I can easily hide their little present there without the surprise being ruined early in the scavenger hunt.

    Hiding Tips

I try my best to be creative and put these clues in spots my kids will find entertaining! There's no right or wrong way to hide a scavenger hunt clue card.

Sometimes I'll fold the clue cards. Other times I'll need to use tape to get it in a specific hiding spot. It's also possible to just tuck the scavenger hunt clue inside something.

Hide a Valentines Gift at the End of the Scavenger Hunt

At the end of the scavenger hunt, I hide a little Valentines gift for the kids. This year, we're all about pampering!

I bought the kids each a bag of these shower steamers from Amazon. They are made in the USA with essential oils. The kids are really going to have fun using them. Here's my post all about shower steamers.
