    Valentine Snack Mix

This Valentines snack mix is so easy to put together. It works great for classroom parties, Valentine goodie bags, February lunch snacks, and as an after school playdate snack.

My kids love Valentine limited edition cereals. Strawberry Vanilla Chex is tasty. Chocolate Strawberry Cheerios is also a fun treat. I took both those special edition flavors, and made them into a strawberry and chocolate Valentines snack mix.

    Valentine Snack Idea for Classroom

My son's class is having a Valentine's Day party, and I'll be making this snack mix for the classroom. This snack mix works well for a Valentine class party snack because it is:

    • nut free
    • dairy free
    • egg free
    • includes healthy freeze-dried strawberries
    • is a mix of sweet and salty snacks
    • easy to portion into treat bags

My kids' school promotes a no candy policy. But I did check with the teacher, and she said a few marshmallows for each kid is okay.

    Ingredients in Valentines Snack Mix

    • Strawberry Vanilla Chex
    • Chocolate Strawberry Cheerios
    • Pretzels
    • Teddy Grahams (any variety works)
    • Freeze-Dried Strawberries
    • Strawberry Heart Marshmallows

It's easy to swap out ingredients as needed in this Valentines classroom snack idea though. For example, if your school doesn't allow marshmallows, you can swap it with strawberry granola minis or plain popcorn.

If you can't find the Jet-Puffed Strawberry Heart Marshmallows (I found bags at Target), you can also swap it out with mini marshmallows. If you want something more chocolatey and don't have a no nuts policy at the school, Valentine's Peanut M&Ms work great in this snack mix too.

    Classroom Valentine Snacks

We're packing this Valentine class snack into cute individual zip bags. That way it is easy to hand out and clean up. If the kids have leftover Valentine snack mix, they can bring it home too.

The conversation heart bag in the photos are a seasonal product from Michaels. They didn't sell it at my local store, and it took over a week for it to be delivered after ordering online.

If you are short on time, here's a similar Valentines theme zip snack bag on Amazon. And if you are into conversation hearts, here's a cute conversation heart snack bag that uses zip ties to close.

    Equipment

    • large bowl

    Ingredients

    • 2 cups Strawberry Chocolate Cheerios
    • 2 cups Strawberry Vanilla Chex
    • 2 cups mini pretzels
    • 1 cup teddy grahams
    • 1 cup freeze-dried strawberries
    • 2 cups heart shaped marshmallows

    Instructions

    • Add everything into a large bowl. Gently mix together with a large spoon.
    • Portion into individual bags and serve.

    Notes

This recipe makes about ten 1-cup portions. Feel free double or triple the recipe as needed.
The freeze-dried strawberries will lose its crunch if it is mixed in too early before serving. Omit the freeze-dried strawberries if you plan to make this more than 2 days in advanced.
Here are some suggestions for tasty swaps:
    • Strawberry granola bites
    • Peanut M&Ms
    • Mini marshmallows
Here are a couple cute valentines treat bags:
