Free Printable Camping Scavenger Hunt
A campground is a perfect spot for a kids scavenger hunt. There is so much to see and spot while camping.
Sometimes we play a version of this scavenger hunt on the fly when we go camping. I simply verbally come up with a few things for the kids to find.
It's a fun activity to do, especially when we arrive at a new campsite. It gets the kids to look around and explore, and sort of breaks the ice for a new space.
This year, I've decided to put the scavenger hunt into a printable list. That way, the kids can go off on their own to do it.
I don't anticipate this scavenger hunt lasting more than 15 minutes. But because the kids love scavenger hunts, it's another simple way to make family camping fun for them.

Kids Can Never Find Things at Home, But Love Scavenger Hunts
I find the kids' love for scavenger hunts so ironic. At home, they can't seem to find anything. "Mama, I can't find it!" is a common phrase around here, as I'm sure it is in your home too.
Even when I give them an explicit location, "it's on the bottom shelf of the pantry," the kids still can't seem to find a giant bag of popcorn. How is that even possible?
Yet, when it comes to scavenger hunts, they love it when I give them a list of things to find. Even more, they are surprisingly good at it.
Have kids who love scavenger hunts? Here are two favorites: Road Trip Scavenger Hunt and Beach Scavenger Hunt.
A Campsite is a Fun Location For Scavenger Hunts
I love family camping because the kids usually sort themselves out and find things to play. They putter, putz, explore the sticks, stones and what not. It's not like I have to arrive at the campsite armed with activities for the kids.
That being said, a campsite is a fantastic place for kids to do a scavenger hunt. A campsite has nature in so many forms - trees, dirt, rocks, animals, bugs, and water. Also, if you go to a developed campground, there are also other people and families with different camping gear, toys, RVs and personalities.
Since a campsite is a prime location for a scavenger hunt, and the kids love scavenger hunts, I made this printable for them.

What Age Is This Scavenger Hunt Good For?
This printable camping scavenger hunt is good for elementary-aged kids, and younger. I included both words and pictures, so kids of all ages can play.
My kids usually like to do scavenger hunts together. But once in a while the older one doesn't like the younger one to follow. So if you have multiple kids, make sure to print a copy out for each kid.
You can also print out a couple extra copies, in case there are kids in the neighboring campsite. It would be a great way to meet the neighbors if the the kids want to play together.
